UAE Approves AED 292.5 Billion Federal Budget for 2027–2029

UAE Budget Approval with Flag and Coins

The UAE Cabinet has approved a federal budget of AED 292.5 billion for 2027–2029, marking a 28.3% increase compared with the previous three-year budget cycle. The new plan sets out the government’s spending priorities for the next three years, with a strong focus on social development, education, healthcare, public services, and economic growth.

The Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved the budget on 12 October 2026. It also allocated AED 90.1 billion for federal spending in 2027, the first year of the new cycle.

The approved amount is higher than the AED 227.1 billion budget for 2024–2026. This increase reflects the government’s commitment to long-term financial planning and continued investment in national development priorities.

Where will the UAE spend its 2027 federal budget?

Social Development and Pensions will receive the largest share of the 2027 budget, with AED 34.6 billion. This represents 38.4% of the total planned spending. The allocation covers key areas such as education, healthcare, pensions, and social services.

Government Affairs will receive AED 29.1 billion, accounting for 32.3% of the budget. Federal Expenses will receive AED 17.8 billion, or 19.7%. The government has also allocated AED 5.6 billion to Financial Assets and Investments, while Infrastructure and Economic Resources will receive AED 3 billion.

Education and healthcare remain major priorities. Public and higher education account for around 18.8% of the 2027 budget, while healthcare receives 6.7%. These allocations show the government’s continued focus on public services, human development and quality of life.

The wider spending plan also covers technology, infrastructure, employment, energy, community safety and other areas linked to the country’s long-term development.

Technology and financial planning remain important

The new budget cycle also highlights the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and financial data analytics in improving government planning and operations. These tools can support better use of resources, simpler procedures and more efficient public services.

The plan follows the UAE’s wider development direction under the We the UAE 2031 vision. It also operates within the country’s public finance framework, including Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2019 on Public Finance, as amended.

A three-year budget gives federal entities a longer planning period for their approved programmed. It also supports a more structured approach to spending, resource management and the delivery of public services.

What does the new budget mean for businesses?

The higher federal spending plan is relevant to companies that work with government entities or operate in sectors connected to public investment. Businesses in education, healthcare, technology and infrastructure should monitor developments in these areas and follow relevant government procurement announcements.

However, the budget does not guarantee new contracts, tenders or direct funding for private companies. Businesses should not assume that increased public spending will automatically lead to more revenue.

Instead, companies should review their services, assess their market position and consider whether their capabilities match potential demand. They should also use financial planning, budgeting and forecasting to estimate costs before taking on new projects or expanding operations.

Without proper preparation, businesses may underestimate project expenses, face cash flow pressure or make investment decisions without a clear view of their financial capacity. Maintaining accurate financial records and reliable forecasts can help reduce these risks.
