Sharjah Free Zone Partners With Beehive to Expand SME Financing

Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone (SPC Free Zone) has partnered with Beehive to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) access finance for growth and expansion. The agreement gives eligible businesses a new way to connect with investors and manage the financial needs of their operations.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Sharjah Investment Forum on 14 October 2026. The Emirates News Agency reported the partnership on 22 October. Saif Al Suwaidi, Director of SPC Free Zone, and Peter Tavener, Co-Founder and CEO of Beehive, signed the agreement.

New Financing Options for SPC Free Zone Businesses

Under the agreement, businesses referred by SPC Free Zone can access Beehive’s digital platform to connect with investors. They can also receive a 15% discount on transaction fees and dedicated follow-up support.

The partnership aims to address a common challenge for growing companies: securing enough capital to meet rising demand. Businesses may need funds to buy equipment, manage operating costs, fulfil new contracts or increase their capacity.

Beehive offers term finance of up to AED 2 million, repayable over 12 or 24 months. Its working capital finance provides up to AED 2.5 million against business invoices, with repayment due within 90 to 120 days. These options serve different needs, so companies should review the terms before applying.

Why Financial Planning Matters Before Borrowing

Access to funding can help a business grow, but borrowing without a clear plan can create further financial pressure. Companies should know how much capital they need, how they intend to use it and whether future income can cover repayments.

This is where accounting and bookkeeping services can support better business decisions. Accurate records help owners understand their income, expenses, outstanding invoices and available cash. They also provide a clearer view of whether a business can afford additional finance.

Businesses should prepare their financial statements, review their cash flow and estimate upcoming costs before taking on new borrowing. Good financial reporting can help owners identify gaps and assess whether a funding option suits their plans.

The Wider Impact on UAE SMEs

The partnership also expands SPC Free Zone’s support beyond company formation and trade licensing. The free zone supports businesses across sectors such as publishing, media, trade, technology and professional services.

For companies already operating in the UAE, the new financing channel may help them explore ways to fund expansion. For businesses planning to establish operations, professional business setup services in Dubai and the UAE can help them understand company formation options, licensing requirements and the steps involved in starting a business.

However, financing is not automatic. Beehive reviews applications against its own credit criteria. Term finance applicants need at least two years of trading history and annual revenue of at least AED 2 million. Working capital finance has separate requirements, including invoicing other businesses.

Tax and Compliance Must Remain a Priority

Businesses seeking finance should also keep their tax and compliance responsibilities in order. Companies operating in the UAE need to understand the rules that apply to their activities, including relevant corporate tax and VAT obligations.

UAE corporate tax advisory can help businesses understand their tax responsibilities and applicable filing requirements. Maintaining accurate accounting records and reviewing tax obligations can also support more informed financial planning.

Ignoring these responsibilities may lead to reporting errors, unexpected costs and compliance problems. Before borrowing, business owners should review their financial position and make sure their plans account for both repayments and ongoing operating expenses.

How Dubai Business and Tax Advisors Can Help

Dubai Business and Tax Advisors (DBTA) supports businesses with company formation, accounting, bookkeeping, tax advisory and financial compliance. Its ACCA-qualified team can help business owners understand their financial position, maintain accurate records and plan for the costs of growth.

Through business advisory services, companies can assess their operating costs, review financial information and make better-informed decisions about expansion. These steps are particularly important when a business is considering external finance.

The SPC Free Zone and Beehive partnership provides eligible businesses with another route to explore funding. Companies should now review the eligibility criteria, compare financing terms and prepare their financial records before applying. With sound financial planning and the right professional support, SMEs can make more informed decisions about funding their next stage of growth.
